Computer

To run MAME in an arcade cabinet with an arcade monitor you need a computer that has some specific components (video card). I had the following system available after my wife switched to a laptop. It seems to be perfect for running the current version of ArcadeOS and MAME

  • PII 333mhz
  • 128mb RAM
  • 13gb IDE HD
  • Trident 9880 8mb Retail VIDEO-107PCI - PCI 64Bit Blade3D
  • ATI Expert 2000 32MB AGP (Hardware DVD)

So far this system is capable of playing every working game in MAME(currently v0.37b16). In the future I may have to upgrade it to one of those new fangled gigahertz boxes.
